Nike Streakfly: Pure Racing Speed for 5K-10K

Nike's short-distance racer promises maximum speed. Is it the fastest non-spiked shoe?

Nike Streakfly

$159.99

4.5/5
Overall Rating

The Nike Streakfly is designed specifically for 5K and 10K racing. At 4.9oz, it's one of the lightest racing flats available. After racing a 5K PR and several tempo workouts, here's my review.

Extreme Lightweight

At 4.9oz, the Streakfly barely exists on your feet. Combined with ZoomX foam and a thin profile, it feels like racing in socks with just enough protection.

ZoomX for Short Distances

The thin layer of ZoomX provides adequate cushioning for shorter distances. For 5K-10K, it's perfect. For anything longer, it becomes harsh.

Race Performance

I PR'd my 5K by 45 seconds in these. They're genuinely fast, encouraging turnover and aggressive racing. Every ounce saved matters at race pace.

Very Limited Use

These are pure racers for short distances only. Not suitable for training, tempo runs, or distances beyond 10K. One-purpose excellence.

Pros

  • Extremely lightweight
  • Perfect for 5K-10K racing
  • Responsive ZoomX
  • Encourages fast turnover
  • Genuine speed advantage

Cons

  • Too minimal for most runners
  • Only for short distance racing
  • Limited cushioning
  • Expensive for single-purpose shoe
