The New Balance FuelCell SC Elite v3 is designed for racing at any distance. After racing a 10K and half marathon plus training miles, here's my assessment.
FuelCell Cushioning
FuelCell foam provides excellent energy return with a firmer, more responsive feel than competitors. The cushioning is adequate for marathons but really shines at shorter distances.
Carbon Plate Performance
The carbon fiber plate delivers impressive propulsion. It feels snappier than the Vaporfly plate but less forgiving. This makes it faster for 5K-half marathon but potentially harsh for full marathons.
Race Results
I achieved a 10K PR in these shoes, feeling fast and controlled throughout. The half marathon went well too, though I noticed some foot fatigue in the final miles.
Best Use
Ideal for 5K through half marathon racing. Marathon-capable but there are better options for the longer distance.
