Test Protocol

Over 6 months, I put the Adidas Ultraboost 22 through 500+ miles of varied training including easy runs, tempo work, and long runs on different surfaces.

Midsole Performance

The Boost midsole maintains much of its original responsiveness even after 500 miles. Some compression is evident in high-wear areas, but overall integrity remains solid.

Upper Durability

The Primeknit upper shows expected wear patterns but no structural failures. Some pilling is visible on high-friction areas, but nothing concerning.

Outsole Wear

Continental rubber lives up to its reputation. Wear is minimal and even across the outsole, suggesting these shoes could easily reach 600+ miles.

Comfort Evolution

Interestingly, comfort improved around mile 100 as the shoe molded to my foot shape. Peak comfort was between miles 100-400.

Value Assessment

At , the cost-per-mile works out to /bin/zsh.36 at 500 miles, reasonable for a premium shoe that may reach 650+ miles total.

Pros

  • Excellent outsole durability
  • Midsole holds up well
  • Comfort improves with use
  • High total mileage potential

Cons

  • Premium price
  • Some upper pilling
  • Midsole compression over time
